More than perhaps any other cinematic form, animation is driven by a childlike sense of wonder and imagination. Although animated films are often shorter than live-action features, they require far longer production periods, resulting in works rich in artistry, personality, and emotional impact. This year's animation lineup features 21 films; 9 from Korea and 12 from overseas. While united by the shared language of animation, each work reveals its own distinctive visual style, storytelling approach, and thematic concerns, reflecting the diverse cultural backgrounds of its creators. These films move effortlessly between reality and fantasy, often incorporating bold experiments that blend animation with live action. From traditional hand-drawn 2D animation to inventive stop-motion techniques using a wide variety of materials, from restrained black-and-white brushwork to dazzling worlds bursting with color, the selection showcases the limitless expressive possibilities of animation. We invite audiences to immerse themselves in the boundless imagination and artistic richness these 21 remarkable films have to offer.
