Cats' Apartment
The gigantic apartment complex, the east end of Seoul. It was a paradise filled with love and happiness for both cats and people hanging out freely for a long time. But with upcoming redevelopment plans, some people are worried about the cats staying in the area. “I want to ask them if they want to keep living here. The beautiful struggles begin for the happy farewell of cats and people.
Everyone knows that the Earth is not just for people, but why redevelopment plans overlook migration plan for urban animals? The bright, clear eyes of cats with their slow and drowsy moves remind us of the animal rights once again. (PARK Il-a)
JEONG Jae-eun made her feature debut with Take Care of My Cat (2001), which was invited to more than 30 international film festivals. Her recent work includes Butterfly Sleep (2017), a feature film co-production between Japan and Korea, and documentaries Cats’ Apartment (2020) and Modern Korea: The Age of Beasts (2021).
